Gavin Newsom claims Ron DeSantis keeps poop and porn in his pocket

California Gov. Gavin Newsom claimed Wednesday Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis keeps poop and porn in his pocket.
Gov. Newsom made the comment in a on social media platform X in response to an in which Gov. DeSantis talked about his California counterpart’s policies.
“Dude keeps poop and porn in his pocket. Won’t be taking advice from him,” Gov. Newsom wrote.
He was likely referring to a debate the two had in 2023, when Gov. DeSantis pulled from his suit jacket a map of locations where human poop was allegedly found on San Francisco streets, as well as images of censored sex acts he claimed were in a book in California schools.
Gov. Newsom dismissed the map as “nonsense” and rejected the idea the book Gov. DeSantis referenced, along with other similar literature, were part of California schools’ curricula.
“We don’t teach that. We have sex education in middle schools and high schools where it’s appropriate. This is a ginned up, made-up issue to divide this country,” Gov. Newsom explained. “You talk about dividing this country? This is part of the culture war, the weaponization of grievance.”
Govs. Newsom and DeSantis have since criticized each other’s policies, including on Wednesday, when the Florida governor told Fox News host Jesse Watters that Gov. Newsom thinks he has “ultimate power.”
“This is a governor, Jesse, who is saying that he does not want ICE agents to put masks on – and they’re doing that for their safety, because there’s a threat to them and their family out there, as we saw with the shooting today and the threats that come in daily to them – but this is the same governor who forced two-year-olds to wear masks during COVID, and he wielded executive power to muzzle people,” Gov. DeSantis explained.
The California Department of Health has recommended that children who are at least two years old wear masks in circumstances like the COVID-19 pandemic. Gov. Newsom has promoted his state’s health policies over those of the Trump administration, which has expressed skepticism over vaccines and restricted their availability.
“In California, we’re requiring health plans, we’re requiring those insurance companies to provide access [to vaccines and treatments],” the governor said during an appearance on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Tuesday night. “And we’re making sure that our own independent analysis provides a list of recommendations based on facts, based on science, not based on bulls**t and fear.”
