Police search for suspect after armed robbery at Kalamazoo business

KALAMAZOO, MI — Police are looking for an armed robber who demanded money from a business and left on foot.
Around 8:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers responded to the 3500 block of Stadium Drive for a report of an armed robbery at a business.
The victim told officers that a male suspect, age unknown, threatened them with a handgun and demanded money before leaving.
Officers responded and established a presence in the area. A police dog and drones were deployed during the search. Evidence was recovered, though no arrest has been made at this time, police said on Friday.
KDPS is actively investigating the case.
Anyone with information about the incident can call the Criminal Investigations Division at 269-337-8139. Information can also be provided anonymously through the Kalamazoo Silent Observer tip line at 269-343-2100, the “P3Tips” app, or online at www.KalamazooSilentObserver.com.
Police did not clarify which business was robbed. The area of 3500 Stadium Drive includes a Wild Bill’s Tobacco Shop — where an employee declined to comment, Friday — as well as Dani’s Kitchen and Pancake House and The Flashlight Hub, which confirmed it was closed at the time and not involved.
