NAMI Maine to hold annual walk tomorrow for mental health awareness

AUGUSTA — More than ever, people are talking about the importance of mental health. Right here in Maine, NAMI Maine is taking the opportunity to gather the community, and share resources, information and hope.
Every year the Maine Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI Maine), hosts a walk and community gathering, a chance for Mainers to share experiences, connect with supports and show their commitment to mental health awareness.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 27 at Capitol Park in Augusta. The event will begin at 11 a.m., with opening remarks at 11:20 a.m., followed by the walk and then a community gathering in the park until 2 p.m.
NAMIWalks Maine is not only a gathering, but also a chance to raise money to increase access to mental health resources and initiatives here in Maine. Every dollar raised is an investment in the mental health of all Mainers.
After the walk, which is less than 1 mile in length and takes place on the park’s sidewalks, there will be a gathering with food and fun for the whole family! The gathering will feature:
Free activity stations including games, a tie-dye T-shirt station and more
Chances to win prizes
Resource tables with information from community organizations and lots more!
This family friendly event is free to attend, and people can register themselves or a walk team at 2025 NAMI Maine Walk.
This event is dog friendly, with any attending pooches needing to remain leashed at all times.
Join NAMI Maine for this day of community, compassion and fun – and show our community that Mental Health Matters to ME!
