On the third day of Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III’s funeral at the Manyia Palace, the Tepamanhene was spotted with his unique entourage.

Several videos sighted by YEN.com.gh, captured Tepamanhene Nana Adusein Atwenewa Ampem II’s grand entry as he made his way to commiserate with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The chief and his entourage were clad in white outfits, while all other attendees were mandated to wear black to pay respect to the late Asantehemaa.

Before him was a group of specially looking kids and young adults who took turns to shake Otumfuo.

Each member of the specially looking tribe had a peculiar birthmark on their bodies. Some say the mark was caused by piebaldism, others believe it is a gift sign from the Tepa Barnie deity.

Tepamanhene performs a ritual for Otumfuo

The royal household of Tepa often attends high-profile Asante gatherings with the Tepa Barnie deity, also known as Asante Bosom kɛseɛ.

The Tepamanhene, after shaking hands with Otumfuo, presented the deity to perform an age-old ritual for the Asante monarch.

Otumfuo touched the deity several times, after which the Tepamanhene smeared a substance on the king’s shoulders.

The moment brought to bear Asante’s rich culture and traditions preserved from ages and passed on to this generation.
