Teja Sajja’s Mirai Off To A Flying Start, Eyes $1 Million Mark In North America
Written and directed by Karthik Gattamneni, the film was released in theatres on Friday, September 12, and it is already showing signs of becoming yet another blockbuster from the 30-year-old actor. Mirai is reported to be on track to beat the record for the premiere numbers of Teja Sajja’s blockbuster hit Hanu-Man. Early trends suggest that Mirai will collect much more than the 2024 superhero film directed by Prasanth Verma, which collected $385,000 from its premiere shows in North America. Meanwhile, the actor’s newly released film has already crossed $367,000, with a few hours remaining until the end of the day. Mirai might likely cross the $400,000 mark by the end of the day.
The film is expected to be Teja Sajja’s biggest premiere day collection in the region. And not just Mirai’s initial collection, but its bookings also spoke volumes about its popularity among the masses. In the US alone, bookings for the fantasy film crossed $125,000. With such a pace, it looks like Teja Sajja’s film is on track to break the $1 million mark even before the weekend. Besides North America, Mirai also witnessed a strong opening day in India. The film crossed the Rs 1 crore mark by 10 AM on its release day.
What’s The Story Of Mirai?
Mirai is based on Indian mythology and is set in a mythological-futuristic universe. The story revolves around the journey of a mighty warrior – the Super Yodha. He is tasked with protecting Emperor Ashoka’s nine sacred scriptures that hold the power to transform mere mortals into deities. His main opponent is the Black Sword, a group led by Mahabir Lama, which seeks to claim the scriptures.
The film’s premise is derived from an ancient theory of the “Nine Unknown Men of Ashoka”. Produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad under People Media Factory, the film also stars Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu and Jayaram.
Ram Gopal Varma’s next with Manoj Bajpayee
Manoj Bajpayee is set to work with director Ram Gopal Varma, nearly three decades after their first collaboration on the hit film Satya, released in 1998. The 56-year-old actor sat for an interview with a media portal, where he candidly spoke about working with the renowned director after a long hiatus. “I will always be ready to be a pillar of his films. I am grateful to him for the career that I have. I thank him for always believing in me,” he said, expressing his happiness at working with RGV on Police Station Mein Bhoot. Besides the Family Man actor, the upcoming horror comedy directed by Ram Gopal Varma will also feature Genelia D’Souza. Police Station Mein Bhoot is produced under the banners of Vauve Emirates, Karma Media and Entertainment and U Entertainment.
