A Fox News analyst blasted President Donald Trump for “orchestrating” the indictment of former FBI Director James Comey. (Watch the video below.)
Howard Kurtz, the former “MediaBuzz” host who’s now a political and media analyst for the network, commented on the display of a Truth Social post in which Trump ordered Attorney General Pam Bondi to go after his political enemies with haste.

“Let’s not mince words here,” Kurtz said Thursday on a “Special Report” panel. “I say this as a former Justice Department reporter: This was completely and totally orchestrated by President Trump. He says he’s leaving it to Justice, but you know, he’s very much out in the open.”
“Remember: He fired his own appointee as U.S. attorney in that part of Virginia because he didn’t think there was enough evidence to bring this case, brought in a White House aide, his former defense lawyer, whose job was to get this done, and apparently that has worked,” Kurtz said. “I think we’ve become inured to this, but in previous administrations, any hint of contact with a criminal case would be a scandal on its own. And so President Trump, by the way he pulled the strings, has gotten his way with this initial indictment.”

Kurtz was referring to Trump’s recruitment of his former personal attorney, Lindsey Halligan, for the top prosecutor spot in the Virginia district where the president ousted Erik Siebert, who was also being pressured to indict people Trump saw as adversaries. It was that office that filed the case against Comey.
On Thursday, Comey was charged with lying to Congress for saying he had not authorized anyone at the FBI to serve as an unnamed source in news reports about a certain investigation, which is not specified in the indictment. Comey said he’s innocent.

Trump fired Comey a few months into his first administration while the director was overseeing a probe into possible ties between Russian meddling in the 2016 election and the Trump campaign.
