Beyonce and Jay-Z's new Cotswolds home will be built over algae-filled lake and 'shack'

Photos reveal the dilapidated ‘shack’ and algae-ridden lake that Beyonce and Jay-Z are set to purchase for their new Cotswolds home. The pop power couple are reportedly in the final stages of buying 58 acres of land on the outskirts of Wigginton, having secured planning permission for a ‘spectacular rural estate’. Drone shots of the area show vast fields, a solitary run-down building, and a large lake teeming with algae. Today, locals admitted they weren’t overly familiar with her work and voiced concerns about potential house price hikes. Some expressed worries about limousines or paparazzi “swarming” around the village. David, 71, retired, has resided here for over 60 years. He commented: “It’s a big project to do – to build a house over a lake. It’s a man-made lake. She is going to make a house over the lake – nice idea!”. “It’s very romantic and pretty. “I don’t know what it’s going to be like really. People do buy houses around here and the prices are going up and it could even be more so. “I don’t know much about Beyoncé. I think everybody has been looking her up to see what she’s like. “I don’t think it will make much difference because we have already got David Beckham, Claudia Winkleman, all the people are here. It’s just another one isn’t it?” remarked a local who moved here 12 years ago. “I couldn’t believe they bought what it is – it is a shack. It’s such a lovely quiet village; you don’t want to see black limousines constantly driving up and down the road due to police escorts. My grandson will be thrilled that they are moving here. The house prices will skyrocket, and it’s already an expensive area due to its location in the Cotswolds. “I think it will change the village. I’ve received texts from numerous people saying ‘oh god, you’ve got new neighbours’. She might have been expected to join the village faith, but she won’t. I don’t know why they bought it. “She wants seclusion, but she’ll still encounter us dog walkers passing by.” Another woman who recently moved to the village with her family expressed her hope that it wouldn’t become overrun with helicopters and paparazzi. She revealed that she used to live in LA and had moved to Wigginton for a more tranquil life. “I find it quite amusing that we left LA due to its obsession with the entertainment industry and celebrity culture, and now it’s followed us here,” she said. “I welcome everyone. I do believe this area lacks diversity, so I’m all for it. “I adore Beyoncé; she’s incredible.” When quizzed about why she believes the celebrity couple are relocating to the area, she responded: “It is getting so much media coverage and it is such a great place to live. I also think it is because of the private members clubs. “It is like the English dream isn’t it? But they are not going to Banbury to Marks and Spencer. “I know that the villagers are all excited in case she comes to the faith but I doubt that will happen.” A local who relocated here over two decades ago remarked: “It was a nice quiet area and now all of a sudden it’s full of celebrities – odd. “I don’t really know much about her and her music. “”. Plans reveal the couple’s aspirations to construct a mansion with seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms, boasting views of a lake in the tranquil Oxfordshire hotspot. Wigginton once boasted a public house, The White Swan, which closed its doors during lockdown and has remained shut ever since.
