This landmark event will serve as a direct pathway for medal-winning boxers to enter India’s elite national boxing camp, reinforcing BFI’s commitment to athlete development and talent identification.
The tournament will feature 10 weight categories each for men and women, with participation open to state units or boards that ranked in the top eight at the 8th Elite Nationals. Additional entries will come from the Sports Authority of India’s National Centre of Excellence in Rohtak, host state Tamil Nadu, and medalists from recent national and international competitions.
BFI President Ajay Singh emphasized the federation’s athlete-centric approach, stating, “The BFI Cup is a strategic step to identify fresh talent and provide a competitive platform for both emerging and established boxers.”
This initiative is expected to enhance India’s boxing ecosystem by offering structured opportunities for progression, while also serving as a performance benchmark ahead of international selections.
