Free electronics repairs being provided for one day at mid-Michigan college

OWOSSO, MI – Residents looking to get repairs on their electronic devices can do so for free at an upcoming event.
The Baker College Cyber Defense Club is offering a free Community Fix It event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4 at the college’s Welcome Center, located at 1309 S. Shiawassee St. in Owosso.
Items to be serviced included computer towers, all-in-one systems, laptops, phones, and some networking devices. Printers are not currently serviceable.
Those interested should only bring monitors, keyboards, mice, and other accessories if they are part of the issue.
Volunteers will operate on a first-come, first-served basis.
The consultation and service are free of charge.
Donations will be accepted to support the college’s Cyber Defense Club, which is described as student-led organization focusing on building hands-on and teamwork skills for students.
The club also represents Baker College in collegiate and open competitions centered in technology, security, and forensics.
If they’re unable to fix it an item the spot, participants will be provided with diagnostic sheets to take to a preferred service shop.
Anyone with questions not addressed at the event can leave them in a box on-site and the club will follow up with a Q&A online.
