The newest limited series from Netflix has dropped and features a stellar cast in a gritty tale about two brothers willing to do whatever it takes to stay alive. Black Rabbit’s complete eight-episode run is now available to stream. The show unfolds within New York City’s intense nightlife world . The storyline follows the proprietor of Manhattan’s most sought-after eatery as he permits his wayward brother back into the family enterprise, inadvertently unleashing past wounds and fresh perils that could destroy their empire, reports the Mirror . But which actors feature in Black Rabbit? What roles do they portray and how do they fit in to the narrative? Here’s everything you need to know. Jude Law as Jake Friedken. Jake serves as Black Rabbit’s main proprietor who appears to be leaving behind his more reckless past. He’s attempting to satisfy his current backers whilst persuading them of his expansion ambitions and spending fewer hours shutting down his establishment each evening. The role is taken by Academy Award-nominated Jude Law, recognised for performances in films like The Talented Mr. Ripley, Inside Man and The Holiday, alongside television appearances in The Young Pope and Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Law explains his character: “When you meet Jake, he has sort of turned his life around. The restaurant has become highly successful. He’s put aside his juvenile behaviour and really taken the reins of the place and made it a success, and made himself a success – or so it seems.” Jason Bateman as Vince Friedken Emmy-nominated Jason Bateman is recognised for his performances in comedies including Arrested Development, Juno, Hancock and Horrible Bosses. He also featured in Netflix crime drama Ozark, where he secured awards for directing an episode. Beyond directing the opening two instalments of Black Rabbit, he also portrays Jake’s sibling Vince. A former addict in recovery, we encounter him as he battles to survive financially, attempting to earn whatever money he can through any available means before discovering his path back to the Black Rabbit. Bateman explains about Vince: “He makes a bunch of mistakes and is risky to have around, but he’s a well-meaning guy. He’s a problem, but he’s super lovable because he’s just not that bright.” Cleopatra Coleman as Estelle. Estelle serves as the interior designer for Black Rabbit and is Wes’ partner. Jake is eager to recruit her to collaborate on a fresh restaurant venture with him. Coleman has previously featured in two critically praised programmes. Clipped, focusing on an NBA owner’s racist comments and Dopesick, which presents stories drawn from America’s opioid epidemic. She has also featured in The Last Man on Earth and Netflix production Rebel Moon. Amaka Okafor as Roxie. Roxie stands as the leading head chef at Black Rabbit. Apparently discovered from nowhere to emerge as the next major talent in the New York City culinary world. Nevertheless, she appears to harbour her own vision regarding how the establishment should operate. Okafor’s former credits feature Bodies and The Responder. Sope Dirisu as Wes Sope Dirisu, known for his roles in Gangs of London and Slow Horses, portrays Wes, a successful musician turned entrepreneur. He is a key investor and partner with Jake in the Black Rabbit, but it’s uncertain if he’ll be involved in Jake’s future ventures. Abbey Lee as Anna A barmaid at the Black Rabbit. After a troubling incident at the bar, she finds herself at odds with Jake, with the full story yet to unfold. Abbey, an actor and model, has starred in Mad Max: Fury Road, Old, The Neon Demon, and Office Christmas Party. Robin de Jesús as Tony He is a worker in the Black Rabbit kitchen and a close friend of Roxie. Despite being her trusted second-in-command, he still enjoys letting loose when possible. Robin is primarily known for his theatre work, earning Tony Award nominations for In the Heights, La Cage aux Folles, and The Boys in the Band. He reprised his role in The Boys in the Band for the 2020 film and appeared in Netflix’s tick… tick… BOOM! Troy Kotsur as Mancuso A local bookie with connections to organised crime and the brothers’ past. Troy, an Oscar winner for his performance in CODA, has also featured in The Mandalorian, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and Foundation. Forrest Weber as Junior. Junior is Mancuso’s less competent son and one of the two henchmen assigned with locating Vince. Weber, known for his roles in The Blacklist and Law and Order, portrays him. Chris Coy plays Babbitt. Babbitt is the other thug working for Mancuso and a mate of Junior. Coy has featured in series such as Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Station 19, and The Deuce. Odessa Young stars as Gen. Gen is Vince’s estranged daughter whom he abandoned. Now a tattoo artist, she finds it difficult to re-establish a bond. Odessa Young, who has previously starred in series like The Stand and The Staircase, plays her. Dagmara Dominczyk as Val. Val, Jake’s ex-wife and a wealthy New York philanthropist, is played by Dagmara Dominczyk. She resides with their son Hunter. Many recognise Dominczyk for her role as Waystar Royco PR head Karolina in Succession. Raye as herself? British singer-songwriter Rachel Agatha Keen, professionally known as Raye, makes a brief cameo in one episode. Her name isn’t mentioned when she’s introduced to Jake, leaving viewers to speculate whether she’s playing a version of herself. She also performs a moving song later in the same episode, which certainly enhances the atmosphere. Black Rabbit is streaming on Netflix.
