Universal Studios is reportedly “deserted” following news that Disney World has seen a drop in guest numbers . Plenty of visitors have been discussing how eerily quiet the popular tourist destination has become, with many describing ghostly scenes and noting virtually non-existent queues for attractions. Recently, Becky Lou, who goes by beckylouu on TikTok , highlighted the situation after her September visit, and she was stunned by what she witnessed. She revealed she spent roughly eight hours at the theme park and managed to experience nearly every attraction due to how tranquil and deserted it was. Those who frequently visit Florida might find this unprecedented, but it seems to be the present situation at Universal Studios . This follows Universal’s announcement earlier this year of a new theme park opening . In a video documenting her experience, Becky remarked: “If you’re thinking about planning a theme park trip to Florida, come in September. There’s no one here. It’s perfect.” Whilst it might be excellent guidance for those wanting a peaceful getaway, the footage sparked considerable discussion about the theme park’s emptiness. More than 3,000 people have watched the video since it was posted, with dozens weighing in on the subject. One viewer commented: “Can confirm. I went to Epic the other day and got everything done, some things multiple times because no one was there after 8pm.” Another chimed in with: “I mean, I was in Florida in August and Universal was dead then too. The Hogwarts ride was a 10 minute queue in the middle of August.” A third holidaymaker responded: “Was the same for us, only busy times were weekends.” A fourth added: “I was there last week and I can concur. Best crowd levels I’ve ever seen. Lowest wait times.” Meanwhile, one more visitor chimed in with: “I was there 10 days ago and it wasn’t full, but it wasn’t that empty. Two hours in the queue for Hagrid, and the others were 20 to 30 minutes on average.” Some suggested that the park may be quieter due to Florida still being in hurricane season. Others speculated that the political climate could be putting people off visiting. Despite a drop in Canadian visitors, CBS reported last month that tourism is actually on the rise in Florida. Visit Florida estimated that 34.435 million people travelled to Florida from April 1 to June 30, an increase from 34.279 million during the same period last year. However, it’s been reported that Universal Studios has seen a decline in visitor numbers in recent years. Attendance at the theme park reportedly declined in early 2025, thought to be due to various reasons. Factors such as tariffs and expense have slowed international travel to Orlando, and some tourist attractions are still suffering as a result of the pandemic. It’s important to note this decline occurred before the highly anticipated 2025 opening of Epic Universe, a new park predicted to drive significant future demand. Universal saw record attendance and a strong performance in 2022 and 2023. However, this month, visitors have noted that the attraction has been unusually quiet.
