Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Alien: Earth season 1, episode 8.Now that its first season is complete, Alien: Earth has finally properly introduced a villain that is just as dangerous as the classic Xenomorphs. The ending of Alien: Earth season 1 was a bloodbath. Kirsh had his back broken, almost all of Prodigy’s forces were killed by the Xenomorph or one of Alien: Earth’s other alien lifeforms, and most of the show’s cast ended up imprisoned by the Lost Boys.
In the midst of all that carnage, a new antagonist for the franchise fully came into their element. We’re all familiar with the Xenomorphs and how dangerous they are; even if you weren’t, the finale of Alien: Earth season 1 included enough bloodshed to serve as a reminder. However, they’re not the only massive threat in the galaxy anymore, and Alien: Earth season 2 now has a new, equally dangerous, villain.
Alien: Earth’s Hybrids Are Just As Deadly As Xenomorphs Alone
Xenomorphs are still a threat, but the newest and baddest villains in Alien: Earth are the Lost Boys. One of the most compelling reasons for the hybrids to be considered just as dangerous as Xenomorphs is the fact that Wendy can speak the Xenomorph language and control them with it. She essentially has a Xenomorph attack dog she can use to wipe out anyone she wants, which instantly makes her just as strong as one.
Even discounting Wendy’s connection to Xenomorphs, however, the hybrids are equally as dangerous as them, and the finale of Alien: Earth season 1 made them villains. We’ve already seen demonstrations of the hybrids’ enhanced physical abilities, such as speed and strength. Wendy used those abilities to decapitate a fully-grown Xenomorph, and she didn’t even know what she was up against at the time.
The hybrids also have incredibly advanced intellects. They can learn languages, science, and anything else in a fraction of the time a normal person can. It’s not a stretch to imagine they could become tactical experts in a matter of days, which would only heighten their physical abilities even more. Plus, since they once believed they were children, they have the impulse control and volatility of children, which makes them far more dangerous than regular synthetics.
Perhaps the most compelling reason, however, is their control over technology. Wendy, at least (and presumably the others, with training), could manipulate basically any digital system she was connected to. In the finale, we saw her power down Atom Eins mid-fight, shut off cameras, open secure doors, and more. The world and galaxy of Alien is also so tech-heavy that this ability alone makes the hybrids an almost unstoppable force.
What Will The Lost Boys Do Next After Alien: Earth Season 1?
It’s clear that the Lost Boys have an unprecendented amount of power at their fingertips, so only one question remains: how will they use it? As we saw in the finale of Alien: Earth season 1, Yutani sent another strike team to Neverland Island to secure her alien specimens, so they’ll have to deal with that first. Based on the abilities listed above, however, that shouldn’t take long.
Once the Lost Boys deal with Weyland-Yutani, they could literally take over the world. They no longer identify with humanity (aside from Hermit), and they clearly have no qualms about killing anymore. If they all agree with Wendy that the aliens are better than the humans because they’re more “honest,” the Lost Boys could decimate the entirety of Earth.
We also know that far down the Alien timeline, in Alien Resurrection, Earth had been devastated and basically abandoned by humanity. It may be a stretch, but it’s possible that Alien: Earth could explain that by saying that the Lost Boys took over in the 250 years we haven’t seen. Maybe future seasons of Alien: Earth could explain that Weyland-Yutani destroyed Earth just to stop the Lost Boys’ immense power.
