Santander is offering students a free railcard, cash prizes and more with its Santander Edge Student current account. Santander has announced it is handing out a free four year Santander 16-25 Railcard – worth £115, perfect for cutting travel costs. Santander customers can also get £20 guaranteed when entering the prize draw, with the top prize of £100,000. Santander says customers can also benefit from an interest-free overdraft up to £1,500 for students’ first three years of study. They also get access to 5.00% AER/gross fixed for 12 months with Santander Regular Saver. Every Santander Edge Student current account opened between 22 July and 17 October 2025 where a debit card transaction has been made before the end of the year, will automatically be entered into the prize draw. The Santander Edge Student current account is available to open online or in branch and to all students, regardless of their year of study. Customers can also switch using the Current Account Switching Service. Benefits of the Santander Edge Student current account include a f ree four-year Santander 16-25 Railcard, worth £115, which gives customers a third off train travel across England, Scotland, Wales, and the London Underground when the card is linked to an Oyster card. The average 16-25 Railcard user saves £2083a year with the card, meaning a potential average saving of £832 over a four-year term. It also includes an interest-free overdraft of £1,500 for the first three years of study. This can increase up to £1,800 in the fourth year and up to £2,000 in the fifth year (Subject to status, and if students continue with their studies).
