Medak youth honoured for rescuing villagers from flooded stream

Medak: Superintendent of Police (SP) DV Srinivas Rao on Thursday felicitated a youngster who rescued about 10 villagers stranded in a flooded stream during the recent rains in Medak.
On learning about his brave act from locals, the SP invited Devi Singh, a resident of Rajupet Thanda in Havelighanpur mandal, to his office and honoured him. Singh, with the support of fellow villagers, crossed a breached bridge holding a rope and helped the stranded villagers safely reach the shore.
Rao praised Singh’s courage and urged youngsters to draw inspiration from him in helping others. He also said that the NDRF, SDRF, Fire and Police departments together saved 350 lives during the floods.
Additional SP S Mahendar, Medak DSP D Prasanna Kumar and other officers were present.
