Companies enhance online presence for growth thanks to Walsall Business Support funding

Silhouette Saddlery, based in Harrison Street, received £5,000 towards the costs of developing a new website, while specialist lighting and electrical manufacturer Turnock, of Reaymer Close, was supported with £2,500 to enhance its online presence.

Led by leading business figures to distribute funds collected from the legacy of Walsall Chamber of Commerce, Walsall Business Support funds projects to enhance the borough’s economy.

Operating since 1991, Silhouette Saddlery, makes bespoke saddles for customers in the US, Europe and the UK.

Saddlery operations coordinator Amber Ellis said: “A new website will be a digital refresh for us and it will make a significant step forward in aligning our online presence with our longstanding values of craftmanship, quality and personalised service.

“With the support of Walsall Business Support the website will better reflect the passion and precision that goes into every saddle Silhouette produces.

“Designed with modern users in mind, the site will offer an improved browsing experience, detailed product information and in time we will have an online shop, all while staying true to the company’s heritage.

“Visitors will be able to explore the saddles range, launches to new products and learn more about our company’s history and craftmanship before getting in touch for bespoke consultations. We aim to better serve loyal customers and new customers, no matter where they are in the world.”

Turnock also serves UK and overseas customers, building upon a heritage dating back to 1905. The business operates in a range of markets including construction sites, agricultural heating and lighting, Christmas lights for cities and towns, as well as dockside electrics.

The company operates in line with founder George Turnock’s original ethos of customer service, backed up by sound technical advice and the ability to modify designs to specific customer needs.

Director Gordon Stone said: “The Walsall Business Support grant will help us ensure we have a website which gives a positive impression of our company and truly represents what we do. This funding will help us reach new customers and better serve our existing ones.”

Councillor John Murray, Walsall Business Support board member, said: “We are pleased to support two established businesses to enhance their websites to reach new audiences and generate new business. We are delighted to support their plans, both of which will help local employment opportunities particularly for the skilled workforce their sectors need.”

Walsall Business Support delivers grants and a free training needs analysis to businesses looking to generate growth, create employment or shape training opportunities within the borough.
