Global Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh, admired for his music, films, and stage presence, has finally spoken about the controversy surrounding his blockbuster Sardaar Ji 3.
During his ongoing Aura Tour, the singer-actor revealed how the film’s release coincided with heightened political tensions between India and Pakistan, drawing backlash despite the project being completed long before the conflict.
“The media and certain officials were quick to judge. Their reaction was full of hypocrisy,” Diljit told fans, adding that while cricket matches between the two nations often resume even after tensions, artists are unfairly targeted. “If sports can continue, why can’t art?”
Though the film was a major hit, especially in Pakistan, where Diljit commands a huge fan base, he admitted the criticism left a lasting impact. “I had answers to everything, but I chose silence out of respect. I have never gone against my nation,” he said, receiving applause.
Diljit also stressed that both he and his team had condemned the attacks that sparked the conflict. “We are Punjabis. We’ve always stood by our country. We can never go against it,” he reaffirmed.
His heartfelt remarks have reignited debate on the double standards faced by artists during politically sensitive times, with fans across borders praising his honesty and resilience.
