Thomas Cook India has partnered with quick commerce company Blinkit for doorstep delivery of forex cards in minutes, according to a statement. It has launched borderless travel card for leisure travellers and a separate variant for students. The cards are currently available in Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai and will be rolled out in a phased manner to key source markets in India.
Post-delivery of the card, the other processes including Video-KYC and card loading with statutory compliances, will be handled Thomas Cook India’s forex team.
“Quick commerce has emerged as one of the fastest-growing retail channels in the country. A recent study reiterates the exponential growth curve surging from $300 million in 2022 to $7.1 billion in FY25—a staggering 24-fold increase in just three years—and projected at $35 billion by 2030. Thomas Cook India’s move to integrate its foreign exchange expertise with Blinkit’s rapid delivery model reflects its quick pivot to leverage this growing opportunity…,” the company said.
Speaking with businessline, Deepesh Varma, Executive Vice President – Foreign Exchange, Thomas Cook India said the company is trying to create a digital ecosystem. Over the last one year, it has launched a new mobile app, website, is live on google pay where users can tap and pay in foreign countries, and built a presence on Whatsapp.
“Quick commerce is growing sharply…there are 20 million plus active users on Blinkit and approximately 25 million plus monthly orders and we are the largest forex providers in India… approximately 20-25 per cent of our business comes from digital ecosystem and we hope with this partnership it will go to up to around 35 per cent,” he said.
