A new 'splash art' experience is opening in Birmingham city centre - with paint cannons

It’s said to be a ‘bold, messy and joyfully rebellious art experience’. Splash Art Republic is a new venue in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter that is inviting people to ditch the brushes, pick up paint cannons and ‘unleash their inner artist’. Inspired by the ‘expressive chaos of Jackson Pollock and Damien Hirst’, guests are encouraged to ‘splatter, splash, flick and squirt’ paint in large scale explosive bursts of colour. Guests are provided with goggles, ponchos, shoe covers, and gloves so they can ‘dive in without holding back’. Splash Art Republic Birmingham is set to open at Arch 33 on Water Street in the Jewellery Quarter on Friday September 26. Director Jennifer Gilbert-Scott added: “After the success of Nottingham, bringing our action-art concept to Birmingham felt like the natural next step. “We’re so proud to be the first in the West Midlands to deliver this kind of experience, where anyone can walk in, let loose, and leave with a masterpiece.” There’s also the chance to ‘create swirling designs using pedal-powered spin tables’, take part in a slower Pour Art session where fluid paints are poured to create marbled effects on canvases and sculptures. And there are Sip and Paint, Create and Make specialised tutor-led sessions too, which have a bring-your-own-drinks policy so guests can raise a glass while raising their creativity. Special themed nights, DJ-led events, and private hire options will be available too. Find out more and book via the Splash Art Republic Birmingham website. It’s possible to book gift vouchers too. Studio manager Beau Norton said: “At Splash Art Republic, creativity has no rules. Birmingham is the perfect city for our next chapter, and I can’t wait to see the bold, rebellious masterpieces people create here!”
