Yesterday, September 24, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded his visit to New York City. This was reported by the press service of the President.
During his visit, the Head of State addressed the general political debates of the UN General Assembly, highlighting the role of the organization as the main platform for tackling the most pressing global challenges and emphasizing the irreversible reforms underway in New Uzbekistan.
The Uzbek leader put forward several proposals and initiatives aimed at resolving key international and regional issues and ensuring peace and sustainable development.
A meeting between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and US President Donald Trump was the central event of the visit. The two leaders agreed to further develop the Uzbek–US strategic partnership and expand practical cooperation.
Mirziyoyev also held talks with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae-myung, King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel, President of Albania Bajram Begaj, as well as IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, and World Trade Organization Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
In addition, the President received US Presidential Special Representative for South and Central Asia Sergio Gorny and Congressman Trent Kelly, Chairman of the US Congressional Caucus on Cooperation with Uzbekistan.
The business agenda of the visit was also extensive. The Uzbek leader took part in a roundtable discussion with American business leaders and held negotiations with the heads of leading multinational companies, corporations, investment funds, and financial institutions, including Franklin Templeton, Citigroup, BNY Mellon, NASDAQ, Boeing, Mastercard, Visa, General Motors, Nvidia, Oppenheimer, Jefferies, Air Products, Traxys, FLSmidth, GoGreen Partners, Cleveland Clinic, and Cargill, among others.
As a result of the meetings and negotiations, a medium-term project program was formulated. A ceremony for the exchange of bilateral trade and investment agreements in key sectors such as strategic minerals, civil aviation, chemical industry, and energy was held in the presence of President Mirziyoyev and US Presidential Special Representative Sergio Gorny.
At the conclusion of his visit, the Head of State, as is tradition, met with members of the Uzbek diaspora working and living in the United States, as well as scholarship holders of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation studying at leading American universities.
Following the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent.
