No. 6 Omaha North runs wild in 42-7 win over Lincoln Northeast

Omaha North won the battle in the trenches and accordingly won the football game.
The Class A No. 6 Vikings spoiled Lincoln Northeast’s undefeated start to the season as they rolled to a 42-7 victory on Thursday night at Seacrest Field. The loss snapped the Rockets’ four-game winning streak.
Omaha North (3-2) shook off last week’s defeat against Kearney by racing to a fast start powered by its tandem of running backs.
Senior Jaron Cannon, who entered the evening averaging 193.8 rushing yards per contest, scored a pair of rushing touchdowns and sophomore Michael Valencia added three scores of his own.
Senior defensive back Darion Jones, an Iowa commit, also scored a 90-yard punt return touchdown during the first half.
Northeast, (4-1) which had allowed just 33 points over its first four games of the season, trailed by 35 points at halftime and found itself unable to catch up.
The Rockets also had moments of strong offensive play, but they repeatedly stalled out after crossing midfield as an interception and two failed fourth-down conversions ended promising drives.
Northeast tacked on a touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter to prevent the shutout.
