In October 2023, Essentia Health announced it would stop providing urgent care services at its Hermantown Clinic, located at 4855 W. Arrowhead Road, adding that the decision was made after ‘careful thought and consideration.’
Essentia noted then that staffing challenges were a primary reason for the decision, an issue that has been a problem across the healthcare industry.
There was somewhat of a silver lining at the time of that announcement in that the decision wasn’t necessarily final. While urgent care services in Hermantown would end for the “foreseeable future”, the hope was that at some point in the future, they would resume.
Thankfully for Northland patients seeking care, that time is now.
Essentia Health-Hermantown Clinic Is Ready To Reopen
On Thursday, September 25, Essentia Health officially announced the reopening of its urgent care at the Essentia Health-Hermantown Clinic.
The urgent care will reopen on Monday, September 29, and will then continue to offer care from 3 pm to 7 pm Mondays through Fridays. Essentia can now reopen this vital urgent care thanks to improvements made in staffing and available space at the clinic.
Officials note that Essentia’s urgent care locations provide treatment for illnesses and injuries that are not life-threatening but may need X-rays and/or lab tests requiring a blood draw. This allows patients to conveniently access a higher level of care when needed.
