Pope Mountain Arts in Fort St. James recently took part in BC Culture Days, a celebration that is part of the national initiative dedicated to arts, culture and heritage.
Occurring every September, this event offers a variety of free, interactive activities, including workshops, performances and tours throughout British Columbia, with the goal of enhancing public engagement and access to the arts.
On September 20 and 21, BC Culture Days ambassador Lauren Aldred led the “Autumn Inspired by Nature Creative Retreat.”
Participants joined the successful event, which included activities such as nature walks, gentle yoga, creative writing and art inspired by the stunning natural surroundings. The retreat fostered a nurturing environment for creativity and connection.
“Providing opportunities for people to gather in our creative space is truly magical. Art nourishes the soul, just as connecting with others in the community does. It’s wonderful to offer programs at little to no cost, ensuring that anyone interested can participate, regardless of their financial situation,” said Wendy Lintunen, manager of Pope Mountain Arts.
“Making arts and cultural activities accessible is vital, and initiatives like these help achieve that.”
