ICE Back In Joliet, Another Driver’s Window Broken, Man Detained: Warehouse Workers For Justice
The Warehouse Workers for Justice announced its rapid response team arrived at Thursday’s ICE detention “after the abduction had occurred.”
JOLIET, IL — The Joliet Warehouse Workers For Justice social justice organization just announced on Facebook that a second person has been “abducted” this week in Joliet by U.S. Immigration, Customs Enforcement officials. Thursday’s incident happened at 1 p.m. at 1014 E. Washington St, on Joliet’s east side when ICE agents detained one person after breaking the man’s driver’s side window, Warehouse Workers for Justice said.
The address of 1014 East Washington belongs to the U Pull It scrap metal business on Joliet’s industrial east side near the Canadian National railroad yard.
Several ICE agents were involved, and they drove silver and black Grand Cherokees, according to Warehouse Workers for Justice. “The WWJ rapid response team arrived at the scene after the abduction had occurred and remained there to continue the investigation.
“Our teams are working with the family to provide assistance and support. This particular incident was recorded and shared widely on social media. While we understand the fear and panic the images have caused, it’s important to remember these tips: stay alert, know your rights, refrain from posting unverified activity on social media …” Warehouse Workers for Justice posted on Facebook.
Earlier this week, Joliet Patch reported that one week after Joliet Township Democratic Supervisor Cesar Guerrero addressed the Joliet City Council, ICE agents have returned to Joliet and this time, a father who was driving his school children was “abducted” by federal agents, the Warehouse Workers for Justice said on Facebook Monday evening.
“The Joliet Rapid Response Team has confirmed federal agents in the area. A father was abducted this morning while his school age children were riding in the backseat. This occurred on Columbia and Henderson Streets this morning around 7:25 a.m.,” the Warehouse Workers for Justice announced.
The Warehouse Workers for Justice said its rapid response teams investigated seven possible ICE sightings on the east and west sides of Joliet on Monday. “These include locations such as gas stations, parking lots and residential areas.”
