Forget TikTok, if you want a raw insight into Gen Z culture, then this Australian-made TV show is it.
Aussie Shore has returned to screens with its season two premiere on Paramount+, re-acquainting viewers with a group of 20-something locals taking over Cairns for six weeks of sun and sex.
“I’ve got things to prove. I’ve got people to kiss. I’ve got people to f**k,” Jaeda informs us as the show opens.
Catia, for her part, is so excited for her Shore sabbatical, she falls out of her cut-out dress.

The debut season, our iteration of the smash hit Jersey and Geordie Shore franchises made famous in the US and UK, caused all sorts of controversy when it premiered this time last year, dubbed the most explicit offering in Aussie TV history.
And while that declaration is fair, there’s a case to be made that the Australian version is also racier than any of its international counterparts.
Geordie and Jersey Shore first debuted in the mid-2000s. Times were different. Or is it just that Australians are different?
There is so much blatant, brazen nudity in the Aussie franchise, it’s almost unbelievable it’s able to make it to air, even with the occasional modesty blur.
At one point during the first episode, unofficial queen of the house Catia, after a few drinks, walks around the waterfront house they all share stark naked, appearing as comfortable as a foetus in the womb.
She proceeds to jump on and straddle cast newcomer Francesco, who is wearing nothing but an orange Borat mankini.
Hardly a prude, Geordie Shore icon Charlotte Crosby, who is the ‘house boss’ on Aussie Shore, had her fair share of nude moments during her time on the UK series from 2011 until 2016.
But, as she points out to news.com.au, “The nudity is wild. We were never that nude. And if we were, we were trying to cover up.”
Elsewhere in the second episode, events manager Lachlan makes a late entry to the house.
Pleasantries look different on Aussie Shore. Lily and Catia treat him to an outdoor shower. We’re a broken record at this point but the trio are, indeed, nude for the rendezvous.
It doesn’t take long until they take the moment up a notch and engage in a three-way kiss.
As if that weren’t enough of a flex, Lachlan shows the gals his preppy party trick, performing a full-frontal handstand, dumbbells in hand.
It’s not just the nudity that’s an eyeful.
The cast, who are from all over Australia, give a warts-and-all portrayal of a loose night out, unashamed to fart, burp and … relieve themselves in unconventional places.
Take for instance Lexie, who boasted in the first season of her ability to queef on queue. She doesn’t have time for a bathroom break.
And then there’s the shared kissing.
The females of the house take turns “necking on” with one another during pre-drinks, all in the name of friendship and fun.
Surprisingly, the most tame moments to make it to air are when sex happens.
We see two couples get it on in the double-episode premiere, including Catia and Lachlan, and Lily and Francesco.
Their lovemaking sessions leave enough to the imagination, taking place entirely under a quilt.
As Crosby tells us, this isn’t a case of the cast suddenly deciding to be prim in the heat of passion.
“A lot of raunchiness gets cut out if they haven’t got the covers over them [during sex],” she said.
“It’s not allowed to be shown. There’s a lot that gets cut in the bedrooms.
“I know that because when I was around the cast, they would all be laughing about how they didn’t have the covers on them when it was getting wild.”
New episodes of Aussie Shore hit Paramount+ on Thursdays.
