'People Fear India's Growth': RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat's 'Tariff' Remark At Nagpur Event

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Friday said tariffs are imposed on a country when people in the world fear India’s growth.
“In the world, people fear that if India grows, their place will be diminished, so they impose tariffs,” Bhagwat said in a pointed reference without directly naming the United States.
“We did nothing, yet they question the one who did, thinking that if he stays with them, pressure will be created on India. Today, the world needs solutions,” Bhagwat opined.

The RSS chief added that India is a large nation with the potential to grow bigger.
“If others think, ‘what will happen to us as India grows bigger and progresses’, then the issue of tariffs crops up,” he remarked.
Speaking at the seventh foundation day of Brahma Kumaris Vishwa Shanti Sarovar in Nagpur, the RSS chief linked international tensions to human attitudes, urging a shift from “me” to “us.”
“Unless human beings and countries understand their real self, they will continue to face problems,” he said.
“If we show compassion and overcome fear, we will have no enemies,” Bhagwat said, noting that the world is searching for solutions.
He also praised the women-led Brahma Kumaris spiritual movement, saying its mission of awakening inner consciousness resonated with the RSS’s own work.
On Wednesday, Bhagwat had said that India’s ethos is rooted in seva or selfless service, and this sentiment will be its guiding principle in serving the world neutrally, instead of becoming like superpowers of today.
He rued that despite advancements in science, other spheres of knowledge, and human beings having it all, fights are still going on in the world.
Bhagwat said India will show a new path to the world, and while the world will call it ‘guru‘ (teacher), the country will call them ‘friend’.
Addressing a gathering at an Art of Living-organised event, ‘Somnath Jyotirlinga Maha Rudra Pooja’, in Nagpur, the RSS leader insisted human life runs on the basis of a deep sense of belonging (apna pan) and the world today is yearning for this relationship.
“Because the flow in which the world ran in the last 2,000 years, that flow was based on incomplete things. Hence, they think that everyone is different and everyone has their own interests, and those who are powerful will achieve their interests, and those who are weak will die. This is the rule of the world, that is what they think,” he said.
“We see that despite advancements in science and human knowledge, fights are still going on, and humans are dissatisfied despite having it all. And the world is stumbling now after seeing all this, and they are not finding a way out. Where is the way? The way is with Lord Shiva and Bharat,” the RSS chief told the gathering.
