Remain calm and united as president Mahama’s administration settles – Asiedu Nketia tells NDC

Stay Calm — Opportunities Are Coming for All, Says NDC Chairman Asiedu Nketia

National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged members of the party to remain calm and united as the Mahama-led administration works to create opportunities for everyone.

Speaking during a community meeting in the Asuogyaman Constituency on Wednesday, September 17, Mr. Nketia reassured grassroots supporters — including branch and constituency executives, ward coordinators, former party officials, cadres, and Assembly members — that no loyal member would be left behind.

The gathering was part of a three-day “Thank You Tour” to express gratitude for the party’s recent electoral victory.

“We understand that many of you are eager to serve, and that some have concerns about not yet being appointed,” Asiedu Nketia acknowledged. “But I want to assure you — this is just the beginning. The leadership is working to ensure that everyone who has stood by the party will have their chance.”

A Call for Unity and Patience

The NDC Chairman emphasized the importance of patience and solidarity within the party ranks. He urged members not to let internal tensions or competition over positions divide the party, especially at a time when unity is most crucial.

Drawing a contrast with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Nketia warned against following a similar path.

“Let’s not misuse the positions we’ve been given,” he said. “If we allow selfish interests to take over, we’ll end up like the NPP — divided and in turmoil.”

He didn’t mince words when addressing the current state of the NPP, describing their internal struggles as chaotic.

“What’s happening in the NPP now is like a fight heading straight to disaster. Their presidential hopefuls are busy tearing each other down, pointing fingers, and exposing each other’s faults,” he noted.

Looking Ahead

Mr. Nketia’s message was clear: The NDC must learn from the mistakes of its opponents and avoid infighting that could weaken its foundation. He encouraged members to trust the leadership’s process, reminding them that building a strong and inclusive administration takes time.

“We are one family. If we stay united and focused, there will be space for everyone to contribute,” he concluded
