Masseur faces jail over attacks on five women at luxury Berkshire spa

A masseur is facing jail time after being convicted of sexually assaulting five women at a luxury spa.

Ibrahim Ali, 36, of Datchet, Berkshire, had been working at the Nirvana Spa on Mole Road, Sindlesham, when he committed the vile acts between November and December last year.

The five women had been in for back and foot massages at the retreat – which describes itself as being a place to ‘truly recharge and reconnect’ – when Ali launched the attacks.

Nirvana Spa offers back treatments include a ‘nurturing mum-to-be back and scalp massage’ for 35 minutes at £59, as well as a ‘serenity sleep back, neck and shoulder candle massage’ at £60 amongst various others.

Any feet services other than the ‘gentleman’s foot care’ are now only advertised as being provided by a woman in the health retreat – which costs more than £2,000 for an annual membership.

Ali pleaded guilty to committing five counts of ‘sexual assault by touching’ while performing the services when he was tried at Reading Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.

He was charged with four counts of sexual assault in July this year and a further count this September.

The 36-year-old was released on conditional court bail and is due to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court at a later date.

Investigating officer PC Chloe Palmer of Thames Valley Police said: ‘This guilty plea represents a positive outcome for the victims in this case and reflects the dedication that went into this investigation.

‘Bringing an offender like Ibrahim Ali to justice demonstrates our ongoing commitment to tackling violence against women.

‘I am pleased we were able to secure this outcome and provide some sense of closure for the victims.’

Nirvana Spa has been frequented by numerous celebrities in the past including Kylie Minogue and Robbie Williams. Princess Diana is also said to have been a visitor.

Its website advertises itself as the place ‘where relaxation and luxury go hand in hand’.

Prior to Ali’s conviction, a spokesperson for the retreat told The Sun: ‘We are aware of the outcome of a police investigation involving a massage therapist who previously worked at Nirvana Spa.

‘First and foremost, we want to express our heartfelt empathy to anyone affected by this matter. Matters of this nature are taken extremely seriously by Nirvana Spa and as such there was an immediate internal investigation.’

The retreat confirmed that Ali was sacked and that it could not comment on an ongoing court case at the time.

They added: ‘We are committed to ensuring that Nirvana Spa continues to be a sanctuary where our guests can feel safe, relax, and enjoy their time with complete peace of mind.’

Nirvana Spa has been approached for further comment in light of Ali’s conviction.
