Fitness influencer Alicia Beveridge is sharing a health update with her followers.
“It’s a little too tough on my eyes to film otherwise I would turn up a bit more real and vulnerable. I’m going in for brain surgery this morning and have been in the hospital for the past few days,” Beveridge wrote via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, September 24, per People. “I don’t have all the answers yet, but will explain and show up when I can.”
Beveridge concluded the post by sharing that the Royal North Shore Hospital team outside of Sydney, Australia, has been “incredible.”
The content creator has amassed more than 14,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts workouts and snapshots of her lifestyle. Weeks before her hospital stay, Beveridge reflected on her fitness journey while celebrating her eighth anniversary as an instructor at Barry’s. She shared a mirror selfie of her smiling in workout clothes.
“A few days shy of the very first Barry’s class ever taught in Australia, and I was lucky enough to be one of the instructors in that room,” she wrote via Instagram earlier this month. “Fast forward almost 8 years, and what stands out most isn’t the miles run or the weights lifted, it’s the people. The Red Room community. The faces that show up, give their all, and in turn, give this place its heart.”
She continued, “The real magic has never been the treadmills or the dumbbells, it’s been the unexpected support, the kindness, the connections that reach beyond these walls. Moments I never saw coming that have carried me through some of the hardest chapters of my life.”
Beveridge shared that she’s “proud to still be here, but I’m prouder of you.” She added, “The ones who walk in, push through and remind me every single day why this room will always be my safe space and my happy place. Here’s to you, the reason the Red Room has been one of the greatest gifts in my life. ❤️🔥.”
In April, Beveridge shared that she is six months sober and explained that “drinking is not my friend.” Beveridge explained that her battle with sobriety was a conversation she was having “every single day” inside her head.
“Trying to control my drinking was exhausting and tiring,” Beveridge said, adding that her “turning point” was being “sick” of lying to herself. “I knew I had to do the hard thing.”
Beveridge explained that she felt “quite anxious” sharing her story, but she thought it was “the right thing to do.”
“At 40, I’m supposed to have it all figured out, right? A perfect career in fitness, a flawless routine, my life ‘together,’” she captioned the Instagram post. “But here’s the truth, we all have our battles. Mine just happens to be with alcohol. And the journey isn’t always pretty, but it’s real.”
Beveridge continued, “I’ve learned that life is messy, imperfect, and even though I don’t have it all together, I can be proud of the progress I’ve made. If you’re on your own journey, I’d love to hear your story ❤️.”
