Uzbekistan’s president receives U.S. Congressman and Mississippi National Guard Commander - Daryo.uz

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received U.S. Congressman Trent Kelly, chairman of the Parliamentary Caucus on Cooperation with Uzbekistan in the House of Representatives, and Major General Bobby Ginn, Commanding General of the Mississippi Army, at his residence on September 24, on the sidelines of the anniversary session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting focused on further expanding Uzbek-American strategic partnership, with particular attention to strengthening interparliamentary dialogue. Both sides noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of interparliamentary contacts and exchanges.

Members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives regularly visit Uzbekistan, while the Parliamentary Caucus on Cooperation with Uzbekistan continues to grow in membership. Annual “Days of Uzbekistan” held at the U.S. Congress have also contributed to closer parliamentary cooperation.

High appreciation was expressed for the trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Uzbekistan and the American state of Mississippi.

Emphasis was placed on the Congress’s support in enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries and in the practical implementation of high-level agreements.

As a result of the discussions, it was agreed to organize upcoming visits by a U.S. Congress delegation and a business mission from Mississippi to Uzbekistan.
