As part of his participation in the anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on September 24, received at his residence a member of the US Congress, Chairman of the “Caucus on Cooperation with Uzbekistan” in the House of Representatives, Trent Kelly, and Commander of the Mississippi National Guard, Major General Bobby Ginn. This was reported by the press service of the President.

The meeting focused on further expanding the Uzbek-US strategic partnership, including strengthening inter-parliamentary dialogue.

It was noted with satisfaction that parliamentary dialogue and exchanges are developing rapidly. According to the press service, members of the US Senate and House of Representatives regularly visit Uzbekistan. The “Caucus on Cooperation with Uzbekistan” is actively working, and its membership is expanding. The US Congress annually holds Uzbekistan Days, which serve to strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

Trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties with the US state of Mississippi were also highly valued. It was noted that the support of Congress is crucial for further expanding the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as for implementing agreements reached at the highest level.

At the end of the talks, an agreement was reached to organize a visit to Uzbekistan by a congressional delegation and Mississippi business representatives.

It is worth noting that Shavkat Mirziyoyev also held meetings and negotiations with US President Donald Trump, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Albanian President Bajram Begaj, and Jordanian King Abdullah II ibn al-Hussein. He also met face-to-face with Czech President Petr Pavel for the first time.
