Tom Brady Question Worth Asking After Patriots Ownership ...

Tom Brady remains prominent in the football world years after his unprecedented 20-year run with the New England Patriots came to a close.
He won Super Bowl LV in his first of three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers prior to retirement. Now, his fingerprints remain all over the league as the No. 1 analyst for FOX’s NFL coverage. He also serves as a minority owner for the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady made more news this week in his newsletter to defend himself from the “paranoid and distrustful” critics that find ethical malpractice in his current football roles.
His status with the Raiders sparks even more questions with a separate ownership update Thursday back in New England Patriots.
Sports Business Journal reported Thursday that Sixth Street will purchase 3% of the franchise from the Kraft Family, who is selling an 8% stake in the franchise.
Brady clearly wanted heavy involvement with a franchise moving forward, hence his commitment to the Raiders and even sitting in the coaches box with a headset during Las Vegas’ “Monday Night Football” clash in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers.
Could that ownership not have come with the franchise he brought to prominence with the Patriots? If an opening in minority ownership was eventually in play, Brady should have absolutely made sense as a candidate, especially given his outstanding relationship with CEO Robert Kraft.
Obviously, timing is everything in deals like this. Paths have to cross at the right time, which Brady’s obviously lined up on a better timeline with Mark Davis in Las Vegas.
The hypothetical move would’ve made the perfect reunion for Brady in Foxboro, though he has returned for a Sept. 2023 halftime ceremony, his Patriots Hall of Fame induction in June 2024 and recently for the unveiling of his statue outside Gillette Stadium in Aug. 2025.
