More than half a million products from Target have been recalled over safety hazards and undeclared allergens.

The Minnesota-headquartered company has been hit by three major recalls in the last month in both its technology and food departments.

These include Good & Gather Southwest-Style Burrito Bowls due to undeclared shrimp, Gooder Foods vegan pasta products for undeclared milk and Anker power banks for fire and burn risk.

In the food aisles, other recalls over the last several months included mislabeled ice cream containing undeclared nuts and mislabeled energy drinks containing undeclared vodka.

Meanwhile, hairdryers that could potentially electrocute users and garden hoses that could potentially burst and cause hearing loss were among the other affected products.

Target doesn’t publicly share an exact number for annual recalls, but it maintains a comprehensive list of such items on its help page.

Product recalls are extremely costly, with the direct expenses include retrieving products, logistics, and disposal. However the true financial impact is magnified by significant indirect costs such as lost sales, damage to brand reputation, and potential legal fees.

Here, the Daily Mail reveals the latest recalls issued by Target for September.

Anker lithium-ion batteries

This recall was announced by Target for around 480,000 Anker Power Banks due to overheating lithium-ion batteries.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reported the products, which were manufactured in China, have already sparked 33 fires and explosion incidents. Four incidents involved burn injuries and property damage.

Models including, A1647, A1652, A1257, A1681, and A1689, sold between August 2023 and June 2025 were recalled.

They were on sale at Target stores across the country for between $30 and $50.

Recalled lithium-ion batteries must be disposed of differently than other batteries, because they present a greater risk of fire.

Buyers have been urged to contact a municipal household hazardous waste (HHW) collection centers for advice to find out if they accept recalled lithium-ion batteries.

Anker is offering full cash refunds or gift cards that can be used across a variety of product lines.

To receive the refund, consumers are required to submit a photo of their recalled power bank showing the model number, serial number, their name, the date of the photograph, and the word ‘recalled’ written on the power bank in permanent marker.

Anker will provide instructions for consumers on how to return or dispose of the recalled power banks.

Vegan pasta

Some pasta products sold nationwide by Target are being recalled because they may contain deadly allergens that were not listed on the packaging.

Gooder Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling five lots of Vegan Is Believin’ Plant Based White Cheddar with Spirals because they may contain milk not included on the ingredients label.

It is also recalling three lots of Here Comes Truffle Creamy Truffle Flavored Cheddar and Shells because they may contain cashew – also not listed on the label.

Up to 50million Americans are lactose intolerant, estimates suggest, while 6.1million have an allergy to milk. Meanwhile, four million are allergic to tree nuts, which include cashews.

A reaction to either of these can result in hives, a rash, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, trouble breathing or a life-threatening reaction called anaphylaxis, a severe reaction that causes the throat to swell and a person to stop breathing.

A notice from the FDA stated: ‘Persons who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk and/or cashew may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.’

Two of the recalled products – a truffle pasta and a vegan meal

The recalled products were produced between April 7 and 15 and eight reactions in connection to the recall have been reported. There have been no deaths.

The products were distributed to stores across the country between April and August and had best buy dates ranging from July 7 to 15, 2026.

The vegan pasta was sold in 5.25oz packaging with the UPC 850031990074. The truffle product was sold in 6oz packaging with the UPC 850031990159.

The company was first alerted to the issue by a consumer. According to the FDA, there have been six reported allergic reactions in connection to the truffle pasta and two in connection to the vegan pasta. No deaths have been reported.

Consumers are being urged to return the products to place of purchase for a refund and contact the FDA and/or Gooder Foods with reports of reactions.

For people who are lactose intolerant, the pasta product can cause stomach upset and bloating but it is not a life threatening allergy.

People with a milk allergy, however, can suffer more severe symptoms like hives and trouble breathing within minutes of consuming cow’s milk.

Those who suffer from the reaction can be treated with antihistamines or epinephrine to reduce the reaction. For people with a cashew allergy, reactions can quickly become life-threatening.

The immune system detects the food as an invader and launches an exaggerated response. This can lead to symptoms within seconds, including hives, rash, itchiness, swelling and tingling of lips, tightness in the throat, cramps, shortness of breath, rapid pulse, drop in blood pressure, fainting and loss of consciousness.

A severe reaction called anaphylaxis can be deadly unless treated with epinephrine.

Burrito bowls

One Frozen, the manufacturer, said it is voluntarily recalling its Good & Gather Southwest-Style Burrito Bowl Blend after the mistake was flagged

The affected 12-ounce products come in red ‘steam in a bag’ packaging, stamped with a best used by date of August 24, 2026

More than 57,000 burrito meals sold at Target have been recalled after consumers noticed it contained undeclared shrimp.

The meals manufacturer One Frozen have voluntarily recalled the effected Good & Gather Southwest-Style Burrito Bowl Blend over concerns the undeclared shellfish could be an allergy risk.

Although shellfish allergies are common, some can produce life-threatening reactions. These include anaphylaxis within seconds of contact, according to the Mayo Clinic.

Less severe reactions including facial swelling, diarrhea, hives and dizziness.

The affected burrito bowls were sold at Target stores in all 50 states, according to a recall announcement posted by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The mislabeled products were distributed from April 17 but no related illness has yet been reported.

Consumers have been urged to check their freezers for the products and dispose of them.

Those who do find the products with the following lot codes – 5055-1, L5055-2, L5055-3, L5055-4, L5055-5, and L5055-6 – can contact Target guest relations for a full refund.

The red ‘steam in a bag’ packages weigh 12 ounces with a ‘best used by’ date of August 24, 2026.
