The UPSC Civil Services Examination (UPSC) is regarded as one of the toughest exams in India, demanding immense dedication from candidates aspiring to become IAS, IPS, and IFS officers. Most candidates attempt this exam after graduation and typically succeed after two or three attempts, aiming to achieve the top rank of IAS officers, which is higher than IPS or IFS. However, due to limited seats, only a few young individuals manage to become IAS officers.
We often see that many people prepare for years but fail to achieve success. There are also some who reach the pinnacle of success at a young age. Among these, a select few break away from conventional paths and carve out their own unique identity. One such inspiring example is IFS (Indian Foreign Service) officer Vidushi Singh, who passed the UPSC Civil Services Exam on her first attempt at just 21 years old, choosing the IFS over prestigious positions like the IAS and IPS. She cleared the UPSC CSE 2022 with an All India Rank (AIR) of 13.
Born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, Singh graduated from Delhi University. She obtained a BA Honors (Economics) degree from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University in 2021. She began her UPSC preparation in 2020 while pursuing graduation and remarkably, she did not undertake any coaching for the civil services exam.
During her UPSC preparation, she started with NCERT and other basic textbooks, eventually deciding that she did not require coaching. From June 2021 to December 2021, she participated in multiple test series and mock exams. Vidushi took the UPSC CSE 2022 exam and qualified in the final list with 1039 marks, scoring 184 marks in the interview round. Her optional subject was Economics.
