Lagos-based social and tech entrepreneur Tiscap Taiwo has said that he is on a mission to help Nigerians make their phones last longer — especially the screens.
As an entrepreneur, scientist, and researcher, he said that he saw a gap in the market and took action.
“I researched this, sourced the right tools from Chinese suppliers, and started offering the service here in Nigeria,” he said.
According to him, the service involves applying a nano screen protector — a high-tech coating originally designed for strengthening car windshields, now adapted for phone screens. The key ingredient, nano-silica, forms an invisible, durable layer that makes the phone screen tougher and more resistant to scratches or cracks.
Tiscap Taiwo is a social and tech entrepreneur, whose brand name is Tiscap, stated the he does social work, product design and is into general online business.
He added that he is also into the business of helping to make people’s phones last longer, especially the screens.
Speaking on how he got into the business, he disclosed that he is an entrepreneur, scientist and researcher, adding that he also a pseudoscientist, “which means I have a scientific understanding of the environment.
So, I researched this, got all of the things it takes to do it, then imported them from Chinese suppliers and started offering the service to Nigerians.”
Speaking on what he does in that line of business, he said: “What I do is help people to protect the screens of phones; screen are very expensive these days and what I do is install what is called a nano protector on the screens of the phones. It is the technology that is used strengthening the windscreens of vehicles. It is that technology that we translated into phone technology and it is called nano technology.
The components of this thing are nano-silica. Silica and, so that stuff makes the surface of the phone stronger. Once it is applied and coated on phone, it makes the phone stronger and durable.
Speaking on why phone users should apply nano protector on the screens of their devices, the social entrepreneur said: “The economy is harsh and phones are very expensive these days. Usually phone users do not get the chance to quickly replace the screens of their phones when it cracks. So you just need to apply more protective measures to prevent the screens of your phones from being damaged”.
He said that the benefits include stronger and more durable screens, protection against everyday knocks and drops and cost savings on repairs
On the downside of using nano protector on your phone, Tiscap said that the downside is if your phone is broken and you insist that it should be done on the phone, it can penetrate the cracked areas and damage your phone. But if it is not broken, the only time you have a challenges with the phone is when the stuff expires. When it has expired, it can damaged, it can break when the phone falls or it hits a sharp or strong object.
But, the social entrepreneur explained that there are ways to maintain the longevity, which is something he will share with only his customers directly.
He added that if your screen is already cracked, the coating can seep into damaged areas and worsen the problem and like any tech product, it eventually expires, so maintenance is key — something Tiscap shares directly with his customers.
Advising phone users on how to protect their devices, Tiscap said that they should they should do as much as possible to find ways to protect their phones from damage, especially with the latest technology called nano security.
Speaking on what qualities a person needs to have in order to thrive in this line of business, Tiscap said that the person needs to have passion for technology.
“Once you can pick a phone and know the in and out of it, you are good to go; most young guys actually know about technology, phones and everything, so it’s not a challenge for them. It is just the older generation that will find it complicated and difficult to understand.”
On whether a young person get into the business and how can he access the equipment, the social entrepreneur said that they can reach out to him and he will train them and show them how to access the equipment for the job.
However, he said that the equipment for the job is imported into the country from China, adding that other things are imported with it.
Advising young people, he said, he is planning an event on October 25 2025 and wants want young people to come to the event because they will be discovering more things beyond this; they will learn lot of things that they can use to start earning an income and they can now choose which one to go for.
He said that they should that training, exhibition and discover products on offer by exhibitors.
Tiscap added that that they will also experience entertainment.
Tiscap encouraged young people passionate about technology to learn the trade. “Most young people already know their way around phones. With the right tools and training, they can start earning from this business,” he noted
