The Bads of Bollywood: What does the ‘’ stand for? Here’s what Bobby Deol, Lakshya & the cast of Aryan Khan’s Netflix series had to say

A quick search on Netflix this morning only confirmed the obvious: The Ba**ds of Bollywood, Aryan Khan’s new series, was the most searched title on the platform. Part debut, part spectacle, it comes loaded with Red Chillies’ stamp of approval, a headline-making Shah Rukh Khan cameo (as well as those by other industry favourites), and a promising cast of Lakshya, Bobby Deol, and a mix of old and new faces. Add in a marketing machine that’s been working on overdrive, it’s little wonder that the show’s already dominating the cultural conversation.
However, a question on everyone’s mind is regarding the title itself. Ba***ds of Bollywood. What do the asterisks stand for? While some believed it to be a slang (you know which one) — it’s far from it. In a recent interaction with Radio Nasha, some of the cast members revealed the same.

The actor, who plays superstar Ajay Talvar in The Ba***ds of Bollywood said: “It is its concept, it is the way the show is written. When you watch the show, then when you look at the title, you will understand. I remember when I did the film Gupt, people did not understand the title of the film, but then Kajol turned out to be the murderer, so then they understood why we named it Gupt.”

To Lakshya, the starry-eyed but jaded lead — Aasmaan Singh — in the show, the audience would only understand the meaning of the title after watching the series. “The type of show that it is, it’s very difficult to describe it in one word. When you see the show, then you will yourself find the meaning of ‘Ba**ds’ because you cannot define the show in one word or one line because it is a vast, unique world that Aryan has set. Just like its story, the title name is also very unique and it catches attention. People will remember it”, he stated.
Raghav Juyal
Meanwhile Raghav Juyal had a simpler explanation. “They had to fit ‘Bads’ with ‘Bollywood; and that’s why they have put asterisk in it. It was for aesthetic reason,” he shared.
Manoj Pahwa
Manoj Pahwa, whose character, going by the trailer, has some serious beef with Badshah, relayed that he only got to know the title on the day of the announcement. “They didn’t even tell me the title of the show, and when the title of the show was revealed at that time I got to know about it.” Lakshya added that for the longest time, the show didn’t even have a title,” he said.
