Geo-tagging proves to be a boon for pilgrims thronging Tirumala for Brahmotsavams

To ensure the safety of devotees during the ongoing annual Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara, the Tirupati district police have introduced digital geo-tagging to reunite missing persons with their families with ease.

Anticipating high pilgrim footfalls during the festival, Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu launched the hi-tech service to protect vulnerable groups such as children, elderly pilgrims and women.

The tags, equipped with location-tracking technology, are being provided at key points, including Tirumala, Tirupati railway station, RTC bus stand, and TTD guest houses.

The initiative has already delivered striking results.

On the very first day, the police successfully reunited seven devotees with their families, while on the second day eight more — five elderly persons and three children.

Pilgrims have hailed the system and praised the police for blending technology with compassion.

Officers are also deploying extensive crowd management and traffic controls across Tirumala-Tirupati to ensure smooth darshan during the festivities.

“Safety of the devotees is our priority,” Mr. Subbarayudu affirmed, and added that the police remained committed to making the Brahmotsavams secure and incident-free.

The geo-tagging service, which of late is drawing nationwide attention, has proved to be a modern tool in effective pilgrim management in the temple towns.
