The age-old Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) have now turned into state-of-the-art Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) as per Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s dream project of strengthening skill development and enhancing youth employability in the Industry 4.0 era.
The refurbished and modern institutes with world-class technology courses and facilities will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues on September 27. Mr. Reddy will inaugurate the ATC at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Mallepally, while ministers, MLAs, and public representatives will simultaneously open them across the State.
The project, executed in collaboration with Tata Technologies, involves upgrading 65 ITIs into ATCs at ₹2,379.63 crore. The State government contributed ₹363.38 crore, while Tata Technologies bore the remaining expenditure.
Each ATC has been fitted with modern workshops, spanning 13,500 sq. ft., equipped with cutting-edge machinery, tools, and training resources. The centres will offer six long-term courses and 23 short-term courses, designed to meet industry demand in domains such as Robotics, Industrial Automation, Product Design, EV Technology, 3D Printing, Manufacturing Execution Systems, and Internet of Things (IoT).
Tata Technologies has developed six new-age courses, including Advanced CNC Machining, Industrial Robotics and Digital Manufacturing, Mechanic Electric Vehicle, and Process Control Automation. These programmes are expected to produce highly skilled professionals ready to contribute to emerging industries.
For this academic cycle, out of the 11,008 seats available for long-term courses, 10,869 (99%) have already been filled. Beginning next year, 1.25 lakh short-term course admissions will be opened across all ATCs.
As part of the agreement with the Telangana government, Tata Technologies will provide 130 Master Trainers (two for each ATC) and 780 Trainers (12 per ATC). Three dedicated training centres at Mallepally, Khammam, and Nizamabad, are already operational to upskill existing ITI teaching staff.
The Directorate General of Training (DGT) and the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) have formally affiliated the 65 ATCs, ensuring national-level recognition for the new programmes.
