as main witness absent
Former veteran policeman Leon Lindo was yesterday formally found not guilty of conspiring to murder businessman Mohamed Faraad Khan.
Lindo had been charged with conspiring with Lennox Wayne, also known as “Two Colours,” to murder the city businessman. Khan, the proprietor of MFK Trading, was killed in 2014. His decapitated body was discovered in September 2014 at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara. Reports at the time stated that one leg was missing from the knee down, while the foot of the other leg had been severed. His head, found in a plastic bag, was recovered nearby.
During the trial, the prosecution’s main witness could not be contacted despite the issuance of two subpoenas. Neither subpoena was served, as the witness was reportedly not at the addresses provided. Although the witness claimed to be out of the country, immigration checks confirmed that the witness was in Guyana.
