Two men allegedly engaged in sexual activities with an Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officer as they wanted his help with their short-term visit pass applications.
On Sept 18, Indian nationals Bharat, 21, who goes by only one name, and Arya Monu, 29, were each handed a corruption charge.
They are accused of giving bribes in the form of sex acts to Singaporean Kannan Morice Rajagopal Jayaram.
On Sept 11, Kannan, 55, was sentenced to a year and 10 months’ jail after he pleaded guilty three corruption charges, each involving a man.
Another three similar charges involving three other men were considered during his sentencing.
Kannan was suspended from service from April 2023, and in a statement on July 29, ICA said: “Following the officer’s conviction in court, we will begin disciplinary proceedings against him.”
Arya, who is accused of committing the offence on around Dec 24, 2022, is expected to plead guilty on Oct 30. He is now out on bail of $30,000.
Bharat, who is in remand, allegedly gave the bribe on or around Feb 18, 2023. His pre-trial conference will take place on Oct 2.
For each count of corruption, an offender can be jailed for up to five years and fined up to $100,000.
