INGERSOLL: The Most Powerful Elements Of The Left Have Become Walking Dead

Greetings, Dear Reader,

Here we are again, State of the Day. People are becoming more Christian by the day. People are waking up.

They’re waking up and looking around and what do they see?

THE WALKING DEAD

Two big announcements came out of the entertainment industry yesterday.

First, Jimmy Kimmel is back on the air … at least in places that Nexstar and Sinclair don’t serve. They collectively own 25% of Kimmel’s audience, which in the coveted 18 to 49 demographic still just amounts to 50,000ish people.

That’s right, Kimmel is only drawing ~200,000 pairs of eyeballs in the most important demographic in America.

The math isn’t difficult. The conclusion is not hard to draw. He and his insufferable media allies can do their little victory lap, but the bottom line is he is a dead man walking.

Kimmel’s been a zombie for quite some time now. His show, like Colbert’s before him, costs about $100 million a year to produce. It’s no surprise Disney/ABC brought him back from the dead to avoid a costly First Amendment debate. In the age of digital media and independent creators quintupling Kimmel’s audience on a dime, the budget is simply unsustainable.

Kimmel is ultimately a problem that solves itself with a little time. I’d be surprised if he’s still on the air by the end of next year. Bringing him back just to fire him later on legitimate business grounds was a prudent decision.

The other major announcement came from Apple TV+. They’re icing their highly touted Jessica Chastain show “indefinitely.”

How much do you want to bet the show had a “Charlie Kirk” character as its main villain https://t.co/APVvtcFhZa — Joel Berry (@JoelWBerry) September 23, 2025

The setup to the “The Savant” is simple and excruciating: Very Smart And Educated Suburban Woman Hunts Down Right-Wing Extremists With Her Keyboard.

It spawned thousands of memes on the political right, mocking the show for its awkward attempt to cash in on a cultural trend — hysterical Karen at a keyboard — that started to die years ago.

Even Trump’s DHS got in on the fun.

Apple’s decision is simply executives reading the room. They conceived and produced this show based on a 2019 Cosmopolitan article about a woman “infiltrating online hate groups.” In other words, during the height of illiberal ownership of the culture. Liberals were likely still hiding in their homes as it was shot in early 2023, some masked up alone, cheering on Barack Obama and Joe Biden’s censorship octopus strangling the life out of critical thought to save big-D Democracy.

Thankfully that illiberal cultural ascendance was short-lived. Like previous historical tyrannies, free Americans tipped the imbalance.

And now, even as they’ve probably spent about half the marketing budget, Apple has decided not to launch the show quite yet.

Perhaps they will eventually; perhaps they won’t.

Like Kimmel, these insufferable fantasies will likely solve themselves, given time. The culture has already moved on and, more importantly, away from the illiberal left’s delusions.

As a reminder, Jimmy once suggested/joked that people who refused the COVID vaccine should be refused emergency medical services.

And I’m the extremist?

Another worthwhile reminder in the middle of this meaningless victory: Kimmel is objectively not the powerful media figure they’re making him out to be. He’s a small mind with a huge salary and a shrinking audience.

Just like Little Sisters of the Poor, the Knights of Columbus, and TPUSA are not “extremist groups” that need to be infiltrated and disrupted by unproductive suburban moms at their treadmill desks.

These groups are actually normal, productive hubs of community, distinctly American, and more popular by the day.

In the decade or so since Barack Obama stoked the flames of identity politics, people have started to wake up. They’ve gone to their bedroom and living-room windows, or their TVs, cell phones and radios, and what they see and hear is the walking dead.

Costly, bloated, backward programs. Not just broadcast programs. Government programs, corporate programs, academic programs, entire staffs at the local public school, that serve no purpose other than gobbling money, sowing discord, and undermining American values. The people look out their windows and see once-dominant race essentialists withering up. No more book clubs dedicated to the writings of “White Fragility” author Robin DiAngelo or Ibram X. Kendi, whose real name is Hank. Even the once-venerated Ta-Nehisi Coates, who wrote after Kirk’s death that TPUSA wanted a “new Confederacy,” has lost his luster.

The tired isms and worked-over phobias aren’t radical chic anymore in the ‘burbs. It’s just plain radical. And annoying.

Perhaps most importantly, all of it appears to be walking that Green Mile.

Here I am volunteering to be an escort. I’ll happily strap this corrosive worldview to the chair myself.

Can I please pull the switch? It’d be an honor.

WHAT I’M READING

Yes, let’s get them too.

A must read!

UN staffers apparently joked about trying to get Trump to fall down the stairs. Yikes.
