The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced that the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026, initially scheduled for February 8, will be rescheduled to avoid potential clashes with the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) ESE exam.
Previously, GATE 2026 was set to be held on February 7, 8, 14, and 15. The February 8 exam may now be moved to either February 6 or February 16. The revised schedule will be updated on the official website soon. It will be held in two shifts each day, with the morning session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. As per the official notice, the results will be announced on March 19, 2026.
According to the official notice, the GATE 2026 committee is aware of the potential scheduling conflict with the UPSC ESE 2026 on February 8, 2026, as per the UPSC’s Annual Calendar. Therefore, specific GATE papers (CE, EC, EE, GE, GG, IN, ME, PI) will not be scheduled on February 8, 2026.
