Eagles, Bills maintain top spots

Eagles, Bills maintain top spots

Last week’s rankings in parentheses.
1. Philadelphia Eagles (1). Good teams find a way to win, which the Eagles did Sunday with a blocked field goal against the Rams.
2. Buffalo Bills (2). The 10-day break between games will be nice for a team that played three times in the first 11 days of the season.
3. Los Angeles Chargers (6). Is it too early to anoint them as the No. 1 challenger to the Bills for the No. 1 seed in the AFC? Maybe, but a 3-0 start has them in the mix.
4. Detroit Lions (5). Loved Dan Campbell’s trademark aggressiveness on fourth down in a huge win over the Ravens on Monday Night Football.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7). Baker Mayfield, NFL MVP? Through three weeks, the Bucs’ quarterback is building a strong case.
6. Baltimore Ravens (4). Derrick Henry’s fumbling is officially a problem. John Harbaugh’s conservative coaching style might be, too.
7. Kansas City Chiefs (9). It wasn’t exactly a get-right win over the woeful Giants, but the Chiefs are on the board with a victory ahead of a massive game against Baltimore this week.
8. Washington Commanders (8). Marcus Mariota did just fine in filling in for Jayden Daniels, helping the Commanders hang 41 points on the Raiders.
9. Los Angeles Rams (10). Tough, tough way to lose against Philadelphia, but the Rams showed they can hang with the NFC’s elite.
10. Indianapolis Colts (14). Who would have thought Rams-Colts in Week 4 would be in the running for game of the week?
Fourteen games remain in the 2025 regular season, but the small sample size has revealed some notable trends that could matter as the undefeated Bills try to win a sixth consecutive AFC East title.
11. San Francisco 49ers (13). Say what you want about Mac Jones, but he’s led them to back-to-back wins. That actually says more about Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
12. Green Bay Packers (3). Loss to Cleveland probably did a lot of damage to suicide pools around the country.
13. Seattle Seahawks (17). Crushed New Orleans at home, although that might say more about the Saints than it does the Seahawks.
14. Arizona Cardinals (12). Ugly drop by Marvin Harrison Jr. against San Francisco had my fantasy team fuming.

15. Denver Broncos (15). Bo Nix looks like he’s taken a step back in his second season, but the defense will keep them in most games.
16. Pittsburgh Steelers (21). They’ve yet to put together a complete game, but they’re 2-1 – well on their way to another 9-8 finish.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars (24). Thanks to the weakness of the AFC South, the Jaguars will probably hang around on the fringes of the playoff race.
18. Minnesota Vikings (20). Carson Wentz might be an upgrade at quarterback over J.J. McCarthy, at least in the short term.
19. Cleveland Browns (32). Probably overrated in this spot, but they deserve some props for beating the Packers.
20. Chicago Bears (25). The good news is they looked great in smoking the Cowboys. The bad news is they are still in the best division in football.
21. Carolina Panthers (28). Bounced back from an ugly showing against Jacksonville in Week 2 for perhaps the biggest surprise win of Week 3 – at least in terms of final score.
22. Cincinnati Bengals (11). The first full game without Joe Burrow did not go well.
23. Dallas Cowboys (16). Now they’re going to be without CeeDee Lamb for a time. Yikes.
24. New England Patriots (19). Pick up Hunter Henry in fantasy if he’s available in your league.
25. Atlanta Falcons (18). No-show of the week goes to Atlanta after getting blanked by Carolina.
26. Houston Texans (22). Have to think a coaching change will be a consideration if this continues.
27. Las Vegas Raiders (23). Hard team to get a read on. Geno Smith has been quite up and down.
28. New York Jets (26). No moral victories, but have been competitive in two of their three games.
29. Miami Dolphins (29). Fine-enough effort against Buffalo might have saved Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel from the chopping block.
30. Tennessee Titans (27). Head coach Brian Callahan is giving up calling plays after an 0-3 start. That’s not a good sign.
31. New York Giants (30). Chiefs were begging to be beat Sunday night, and the Giants absolutely wouldn’t play along.
32. New Orleans Saints (31). Two decently competitive home losses was followed by a complete no-show on the road in Seattle.
