Zubeen Garg’s death on September 19 left many in the entertainment industry devastated. The 52-year-old singer was in Singapore to take part in the North East India Festival where he died while scuba diving. The entire film fraternity mourned his untimely death and in the latest, Kumar Sanu shared a heartfelt note for the late singer.
Kumar Sanu started the note expressing his grief over Zubeen Garg’s death. He said, “I don’t even know what to say. It feels like the words just… aren’t there. When you hear news like this, about someone you’ve known and respected for so long, a part of you just shatters. Zubeen, my brother… gone. It’s a loss that’s hard to process.”
He added that he kept thinking about his voice with its distinct, sincere tone full of life and passion. He was more than just a vocalist; he was a force of nature. He sang from his soul, and you could hear it in every note. Kumar Sanu further praised the singer saying that he conveyed the essence of Assam to the entire country and the world. He mentioned seeing the videos and photos of thousands and lakhs of people on the streets.

Kumar Sanu grieves for Zubeen Garg
He concluded the note saying, “My heart goes out to his family, his friends, and all of his fans. The emptiness he’s left behind is immense. This wasn’t his time to go. He had so much more music to give us. We lost a legend, a cultural icon. The songs will remain, but the voice that created them, the heart that felt them… that’s gone. And that’s a wound that will take a very, very long time to heal. It was a sad, sad day for India. It was especially heartbreaking for Assam. We are all shattered.”
Zubeen Garg’s Career
Zubeen Garg was a well-known vocalist who contributed to several hit songs. He has voiced various songs for Hindi films, including Dil Se, Vaastav, Fiza, Asoka, Kaante, Gangster and Krrish 3. In addition to Hindi, he sang Bengali songs such as Tumi Asbe Bole, Ei Mon Tomake Dilam, Chirodini Tumi Je Amar and Mon Mane Na, among others. Aside from being a performer, he was also a producer for the film Mission China, and he intended to make additional films.
