Villanova University freshman Maeve Smith picked up the first top-10 finish of her collegiate career Friday.
Smith, an Ocean City High School graduate, placed 10th in the 5K at the Main Line Invitational at Haverford College, finishing in 18 minutes, 16.3 seconds.
Smith is a two-time Press Runner of the Year during the cross country season as well as a former first-team Press All-Star as a distance runner in track.
Jefferson’s Kylee Black (Vineland) placed 33rd in the 6K (24:58.2) at the Osprey Open at Stockton University. Nina Ceccanecchio (OLMA) was 90th (28:35.62). Rowan’s Issy Smith (Ocean City) was 53rd (26:04.34).
Men’s cross country
Stockton’s Zach Hutchinson (Ocean City) placed 34th in the 8K (27:24.69) at the Osprey Open. Jefferson’s Ryan Kopervos (Absegami) placed 68th in the 8K (28:55.59). Holy Family’s Andrae Johnson (Oakcrest) was 87th (30:03.25).
Men’s soccer
Kelvin Murray (Egg Harbor Township) scored and Josh Difillipo (Cedar Creek) had an assist in Delaware Valley’s 4-1 win over PSU-Brandywine.
JohnPaul Mazza (St. Augustine Prep) scored in DeSales’ 6-1 win over PSU-Berks.
Colin Jastremski (Middle Township) scored in Gwynedd Mercy’s 5-1 win over Valley Forge.
Carson Dodd (Lacey Township) made two saves in The College of New Jersey’s 0-0 draw with Arcadia. It was his third straight shutout. On Monday, he was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.
Women’s soccer
Corinne Morgan (Cedar Creek) scored both goals in Kutztown’s 2-0 win over East Stroudsburg.
Paige Noble (Atlantic Christian) had an assist in Cairn’s 3-2 loss to Delaware Valley.
Reena Hamouda (Lacey Township) scored in FDU-Florham’s 5-0 win over Centenary.
Ella Petrosh (Holy Spirit) had an assist in a 5-0 win over Albright.
Olivia Giordano (Millville) scored in Rowan’s 5-0 win over Drew.
Gianna Patitucci (Our Lady of Mercy) helped the Rutgers-Camden defense earn two shutouts last week, a 2-0 win over Bryn Mawr and a 0-0 draw with Hood. On Monday, she was named the NJAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Field hockey
Emily Caporrino (Southern Regional) scored in Drew’s 3-0 win over FDU-Florham.
Julianna Medina (Mainland Regional) had a goal and an assist in FDU-Florham’s 3-0 win over Manhattanville.
Shannon Conroy (Southern) scored in Kean’s 3-2 loss to Misericordia.
Cadence Conti (Cumberland Regional) scored in Neumann’s 3-1 win over King’s.
Jenna Gray (EHT) scored in Rowan’s 4-0 win over Catholic.
Katie Haye (Oakcrest) scored in Widener’s 2-0 win over Immaculata.
Women’s volleyball
Emma Gildea (Southern Regional) had four kills in Georgian Court’s 3-2 loss to Wilmington. She had six kills in a 3-2 loss to Queens. In a 3-2 win over Southern New Hampshire, Gildea had five kills and Emily Hauptvogel (Lacey) added five kills. In a 3-1 loss to East Stroudsburg, Gildea had seven kills and Hauptvogel had six kills and 10 digs.
Jessica Smart (Southern) had 17 kills and four digs in Rowan’s 3-0 win over Union. She had 19 kills and five digs in a 3-2 loss to Scranton. She had 17 kills and six digs in a 3-2 loss to Eastern.
