This Woman Left A Bank Job, Started Controversial Business That Led To Police Complaint

A woman in Australia has recently made headlines for her dramatic career shift, raising significant social debates. Lucy Banks, a 34-year-old from Perth, separated from her husband in 2019 and left her corporate banking job to pursue a controversial new path to secure a better future for her children.
According to The Daily Star, Lucy chose to create objectionable content, a decision that allowed her to work from home and align her schedule with her children’s school hours.
However, this career move was not well-received by everyone. Lucy faced severe criticism and misunderstanding from society, with some people accusing her of being mentally unstable and a poor mother.
Over time, she realised that people around her were not just judging her but also trying to expose her, with some acquaintances even subscribing to her content in a suspicious manner.
The backlash escalated to the point where individuals reported her to the school administration, police, and child protection agencies.
Lucy said, “At times, it became so overwhelming that I felt extremely distressed and unsure whom to trust.”
As the situation escalated, Lucy reached out to the police and discovered that five complaints had already been filed against her. The authorities clarified that no investigation was ongoing, but the experience left her deeply disheartened.
Lucy expressed her frustration, stating, “Had I stayed in banking and left my children in daycare from 6 am to 6 pm, I would still face judgment. Even relying on government aid or child support would draw criticism. No matter what choice I made, people would find fault.”
Lucy’s online following grew after she launched a PR and marketing company, and eventually her eldest son learned about her profession, though she was disappointed someone else told him. She had worked hard for years to shield her children from anything inappropriate.
Over four years in the industry, Lucy earned more than $1.5 million (around Rs 12 crore). Drawing from this experience, she founded Million Billion Media, the first PR and marketing agency for the sector. She has now stepped back from content creation to focus on backend operations.
