CTS Courier Managing Director Jacqueline Bokosi has congratulated Professor Peter Mutharika following unofficial results indicating that he has been elected as the next President of Malawi.
This comes after incumbent President Lazarus Chakwera conceded defeat and congratulated Mutharika, paving the way for a peaceful transfer of power.
In an interview, Bokosi hailed the outcome and expressed optimism that Mutharika’s leadership will bring meaningful development to Malawians. She urged the president-elect to prioritize initiatives that uplift women and young people, who she said often remain at the bottom of the country’s economic pyramid.
“Women and youths are the backbone of our economy, yet they are frequently left behind in terms of opportunities,” Bokosi said. “I encourage Mutharika to design programs that will empower these groups through access to education, business support, and job creation.”
Bokosi further commended both Chakwera and Mutharika for demonstrating political maturity, saying their conduct has set a positive example for democratic transitions in Malawi.
The Malawi Electoral Commission is expected to announce the official results this evening at 7pm.
