ANIFrom Mumbai to Pahalgam: Faiza Rifat highlights Pakistan’s hand in global terror at UNHRC
At the 60th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, India delivered a powerful message about Pakistan’s hand in global terror, underscoring its dual commitment to preserving pluralism at home and countering terrorism abroad.Delivering the address, Faiza Rifat from Jaipur highlighted how India’s democratic values and inclusive traditions remain central to its national identity and international engagement.Rifat began by pointing to India’s guiding principle of “Unity in Diversity.” She described how multiple faiths, cultures and languages coexist under one constitutional framework that guarantees freedom of thought, belief and expression. “India stands as a living example of pluralism in practice,” she told delegates. But alongside this affirmation of diversity came a stark reminder of persistent threats. Rifat referred to the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and the recent violence in Pahalgam, noting that such acts not only claim innocent lives but also strike at economic lifelines like tourism.“These acts are not just attacks on a nation but on humanity itself,” she said.Live EventsRifat underscored India’s resilience despite such challenges, saying that the country’s citizens remain committed to tolerance, human rights and peaceful coexistence, even in the face of provocation. She further said that India has consistently favoured dialogue and non-violent conflict resolution, positioning itself as a responsible participant in global peacebuilding efforts.A significant portion of her speech urged stronger international collaboration against terrorism. Rifat warned that extremist violence is a grave threat to international security and stability.“Only through cooperation, respect, and collective determination can we counter hatred and safeguard our shared future,” she said.Rifat reaffirmed India’s readiness to work with global partners in upholding peace and human dignity in line with the UN Charter.By balancing a defence of pluralism at home with a call for global unity abroad, Rifat framed India’s stance as one that bridges domestic democratic principles with pressing international security concerns.Add as a Reliable and Trusted News Source Add Now!
