Fearsome Mafia godfather 'The Cheeseman' dies leaving behind his family and crime empire

Carmen DiNunzio, a high-ranking member of the New England Family of La Cosa Nostra , passed away peacefully on Sunday, as per his obituary. Known as “The Cheeseman” due to his ownership of Fresh Cheese in Boston, Massachusetts , 68 year old DiNunzio had been battling Type 2 diabetes and heart problems in his later years, his lawyer revealed. In 2009, he was handed a six-year prison sentence after admitting to conspiring to bribe a state official. The illicit payment was linked to a proposed sale of materials for the Big Dig project, and involved a $10,000 down payment on the unlawful payoff, as reported by the Boston Herald. This news comes amidst criticism of the Secret Service following concerns over Trump’s safety at a ‘choke point’. DiNunzio confessed that in 2006, he and two other men plotted to bribe a state official to secure a contract supplying 300,000 cubic yards of “loam,” a soil composed of sand, silt, manure, and clay, for use on the Big Dig by the Massachusetts Highway Department, reports the Mirror US . The Big Dig was a colossal undertaking in Boston that redirected the Central Artery of Interstate 93 into the O’Beill Tunnel and extended Interstate 90 to Logan International Airport. DiNunzio also admitted to providing $10,000 in cash as an initial payment towards a larger bribe, handing it over to someone he believed was an MHD inspector to ensure his group would land the profitable contract. However, the supposed “inspector” turned out to be an undercover agent. After striking a plea bargain, DiNunzo pleaded guilty in Essex County to charges of extortion, promoting an illegal gambling operation, and conspiracy to violate state gaming laws, all linked to his involvement in mafia-related extortion of local bookmakers. He confessed to extorting $500 monthly from a North End bookmaker in 2001, allowing a gaming/numbers office to function in return. Additionally, he ran and funded a betting organisation with multiple offices and several agents in the North Shore area, accepting wagers on professional and college sports games’ outcomes while conspiring with others to operate a gaming enterprise. This news follows the revelation of Barron Trump’s surprising net worth after ‘controversial’ financial manoeuvres.
