Operations at San Diego International Airport (KSAN) came to a halt Wednesday evening after a Cessna Citation X, registered N769XJ, suffered a landing gear failure upon arrival from Monterey. The incident occurred around 6:00 PM, when the private jet’s front landing gear collapsed during landing, causing the aircraft to become disabled on the airport’s only runway. A handful of emergency vehicles were immediately dispatched to the runway. Smoke was reported at the scene, but no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew. According to Signature Aviation, the operator of the aircraft, the incident was caused by a minor gear failure. Due to the obstruction on the runway, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) declared a ground stop, halting all inbound and outbound flights. As a result, at least 104 flights have been delayed, and several inbound aircraft have been diverted to other airports. The airport’s flight status webpage is currently down, limiting public access to real-time updates. Airport crews are continuing work to remove the disabled aircraft, but there is no estimated time yet for the resumption of normal flight operations.
