A series of break-ins rattled the Hampden area early Wednesday morning, leaving several local businesses counting their losses. The owner of New Asian Taste was at home when police knocked on her door to inform her of a break-in at her restaurant. “Police come at my house, knock door,” she said. The suspects made off with $60 in cash and a bottle of vodka.

Next door, On Fleek Hair Salon was also targeted. Jasmine, the salon owner, received a call from police about the break-in. “They called and let me know that my shop had been broken into,” she said. The thieves took her cash register and a bag, though she noted, “I don’t never keep more than $200 in there.”
Baltimore police confirmed they responded to multiple commercial burglaries in the Hampden area that morning, including incidents at a Subway restaurant and Clipper Mill Lounge on Union Ave. The owner of Clipper Mill Lounge reported that his cash register was stolen.

The break-ins come just a month after several other businesses in the neighborhood were targeted. Nepenthe Brewing Company reported that suspects, described as wearing hoodies and face masks and carrying flashlights, stole their cash register and bottles of alcohol. Grano Pasta Bar and Keller’s Liquors were also broken into that same morning.
Despite the string of burglaries, no arrests have been made. “It’s sad. You know, it’s unfortunate that anybody would be in a position that they would do this to a small local business,” said one business owner. Jasmine echoed the sentiment, saying, “You know, it’s just unfortunate that people work hard for their businesses.” Police continue to investigate the incidents.
